DAY #1: He Will Love to be in Her Presence

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder but it seems that often in human relationships that the opposite is true as well.  Continual presence makes the heart grow harder, the eyes grow blinder, and the brain grows quite a bit dumber.  If love is a combination of actions and spoken affection than why do we act most selfishly and speak most caustically with those that we claim to love the most?

The man that She deserves will love her very presence.  To him she will be as a fountain of youth, or a pool of living water, that gives him the strength and the energy he needs to continue.  When she is near he will want to magnify all that is good and noble about him and decimate all of his less heroic qualities.  The man that She deserves will thank God for every second that he has been granted to be with her!

When Madelyne left i made a goal that i would keep myself busy and fill my time with good and righteous pursuits.  So far i feel that i have been accomplishing this goal pretty well i think, but i did not expect to still miss her so much.  All that i have been doing has been sprinkled with the thoughts that these actions would be so much better if she was close, or if i knew that i would see her when i finished.  I just kinda miss her :)

I have resolved that I will strive to be the man that will always love, and never forget how great it is, just to be in her presence.  I’m pretty lucky!

INTRODUCTION

In September of last year i met the most amazing woman. The kind of woman that a man could die happy if the last thing he saw was her sweet smile!  With her long dark hair, bright smile, and glowing countenance she left no room for denial that angels exist, for she clearly was one of them.    Her name is Madelyne and in a chain of events that would baffle even the most keen of minds she became mine.

I remember clearly the first time i saw her.  i had been getting over a cough, the kind that parks itself somewhere between your throat and sinuses and has no intention of ever going away.  Due to my less than perfect conditions i sat in the very back of a crowded biology classroom, that each week was converted into a chapel for Sunday services, just in case i needed to make a quick sickly get away.  At this part of the service Madelyne stood up and confidently stood behind the pulpit.  With tears in her shining eyes, she told of the impact that God has had in her life, and bore her witness that she knew that He lived.  Without exaggeration or creative licensing, my heart literally began to skip and my mind spoke in reply, "I could marry a woman like that!"

It was a little over a month after that first encounter that Madelyne and i went on our very first date.  This date led to a second date, and then a third, and just to show you i can count that high we even went on a fourth date.  After nearly 7 months of dating, i dropped my nervous body to one knee and asked, "Madelyne Ruby Osborn, will you make me the happiest man alive by being my wife?" and guess what???? She said yes!!!  It has been three days short of a month from the time that we got engaged and i grow more in love with my soon to be bride with every passing hour.

With that bit of background perhaps we can begin on the real reason i am telling you all of this.  This morning at about 9 am i dropped Madelyne off at the Salt Lake City Airport where she will travel to Jerusalem to study for the next three and a half months.  With tear stained cheeks i drove home pleading with God to keep her safe, and soon found myself pleading to become the man that she deserves in these next 4 months.  God works in mysterious ways, but his path always leads to the most happiness!  This blog will be the discourses, thoughts, and perhaps rants of a boy that has a short time to become the Man That She Deserves.
